Ovenbird

The secretive, ground-nesting ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapillus) is much easier seen than heard. This thrushlike wood warbler takes its name from its oven or dome-shaped nest. The side-entrance nest is well hidden on the leafy forest floor, but it is vulnerable nevertheless to predatory skunks and opossums. The ovenbird likes open, mature forests.
