Threatened and Endangered Species List for Southeastern States

Below we provide a list of species residing in the southeastern United States (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia) that are federally listed as Threatened or Endangered (as of July 31, 1997) by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). Taxon status: E = endangered, T = threatened. Basic habitat requirements are: A = aquatic, T = terrestrial. Taxa were designated aquatic if they rely primarily on aquatic or semiaquatic habitats. Summary data for each state detail the total number of species listed, number of aquatic species listed, number of terrestrial species listed, and percent of total listed species which are aquatic. This list was constructed using information provided on the web page of the USFWS. The USFWS periodically updates the web page listing of threatened and endangered species as new information becomes available. To consult this list use the web address: http://www.fws.gov
