Wilderness Wildlife Week

This week-long series of free events for wilderness lovers takes place each January in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, a few miles north of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. During the week there are hikes and field trips ranging from easy, 1-mile jaunts to strenuous overnight hikes in the park, along with more than 100 slide shows and lectures conducted by various experts from the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the University of Tennessee, and the Smoky Mountain Field School. For more information contact the Pigeon Forge Department of Tourism at (800) 946-8373 or the Office of Special Events at (423) 429-7350.
