Trailing Arbutus

Trailing arbutus (Epigaea repens) is one of the subtle rewards of undisturbed soil. The tiny sweet-scented pink and white blossoms of this evergreen creeper hide among the leaf litter in early spring. Occurrences are fairly scarce because the plant does not fare well in soil that has been cultivated or grazed.
