Baldcypress

The baldcypress (Taxodium distichum), with its swollen, fluted trunk, is the Spanish-moss-draped tree of southeastern swamps. Despite the evergreen appearance of its needles, the tree is not evergreen. The needles turn brown in autumn and fall off with the twigs.
